Aidan Connolly is King of Munster – Donal’s Corner
Aidan Connolly is a Dub exiled in Cork for many years who has been a regular grinder on the Irish Poker Tour since the very start. Despite playing solid poker and working hard on his game, Aidan has waited a long time for a big score on the Tour. The waiting and the grinding finally paid off in Charleville when he lifted the Munster Poker Festival Main Event trophy and trousered €20,000. Thomas Samuels (€17k), Killian Farrell (€14k) completed the podium. 590 entries created a whopping prizepool of over €120,000 and a superb atmosphere.
Well done Aidan; nice guys sometimes finish first.
Athlone €30k in a Day Next Saturday
The Athlone Springs Hotel is a regular and popular stop on the Irish Poker Tour. This Saturday sees the €30k in a Day kicking off at 13:00. Main Event 1A has 30 minute blinds and a 30,000 stack for a €200 entry. Those that survive 14 levels will join up with the survivors from the Main Event 1B Hyper which starts at 18:30; 30,000 stack & 15 minute levels with entries open until 19:35.
With cash games all day and a Saturday NLH (20:00 start) and a PLO 8-Max (21:00 start) this is the perfect escape from the enforced happiness and jollity of Valentine’s Day.
For those that like to plan ahead; Carrick on Shannon €25k in a Day is once again in the beautifully appointed and staffed Landmark Hotel on March 7th and the madness that is €100k for €100 commences on March 12th in the Green Isle.
