Athlone €40K In A Day Wrap

Whilst most of Ireland was enjoying the spring weather, in Athlone, home to the oldest bar in the world, the Springs was welcoming poker players from across the country to play in the Irish Poker Tour Athlone €40K in a Day event.

The poker room was packed with players that wanted a piece of the €40K festival guarantee and the Main Event once again stole the show. 255 hopefuls entered the arena boasting aprizepool of €41,615. Amongst chipleaders on the Final Table, Louise Kavanagh entered with over 1 million chips, friend of the IPT Dave Kingston also made an appearance on the final table and he finished 9th for €1,170 but finally in the early hours of the morning
Daniel Afrasinei took home the trophy and €10,300 in prize money.

There were some familiar faces at the final table of our NLH €7.5K GTD event. Paul Carr
finished in 6th place, a result that was enough to put him at the top of the 2025 leaderboard.

The tournament wrapped up with a heads-up showdown between Santosh Gurung and
Michael Fitzgerald. After striking a two-way deal, it was Gurung who came out on top, taking home the trophy and €2,200.
And it wouldn’t be an Irish Poker Tour festival without the Omaha 7 max, familiar faces could be seen at the tables including Irish Poker legend Padraig Parkinson and Mickey Merrigan. Ultimately the trophy and €1,750 first prize was taken down by Northern Irish player Brian Graham.
