Donal’s Corner – Shane Keary Flies The Flag Around Europe

The general consensus about Shane Keary amongst those that have known him a long time is that his poker game is based on bluff, bluster, fearlessness and pig ignorance and most of the time we are completely correct. This style has pushed Shane to the top of the Leaderboard and brought him countless trophies and cashes alongside a number of humiliating blowouts.

However, I have noticed that when Shane travels overseas his results are even better than in Ireland. Recently, he travelled to the Malta Poker Festival Autumn edition and produced a remarkable string of results in the nightly €350 PLO tournament. These were highly competitive events with big fields for PLO but Shane reached the Final Table and cashed for good money SIX nights in a row, winning twice.

A small bit of cuteness has been added to the Crash, Bang, Wallop approach and this was seen again a week later in London where Shane won the PLO 4/5 card event at the IPT London in Genting Casino, Stratford. London has one of the strongest traditions of PLO anywhere in the world but they still couldn’t stop the Athenry Ahole.

Killian Farrell and Paul Carr will put everything into defeating Shane for this year’s Leaderboard title and recognition as Ireland’s leading all round player but the way that he is playing right now expect to see the big man on top of the heap after Portlaoise in December.
