Dublin Winter Festival – Day 1 Wrap
The leaderboard race won’t give an Inch and Big Mick G show’s why he’s still the Man!
Day 1 is in the books, poker fans.
The Dublin Winter Festival always sees some of the biggest numbers of the year. It has become a staple of the IPT calendar. Day 1 enjoyed the steady build and hum of players from far and wide, and the Greenisle fully decked out in head to toe in Christmas. Too soon? Not when there is €225,000+ of a festival Guarantee to play for.
The Festival Opener saw a fiercely contented final table consisting of killers!
Dara’O Kearney went in with 212,000 chips but was first to fall in 9th for €550.
It was great to see Big Mick G back on an FT; he finished the night with the first trophy of the festival. Never doubt a legend! He beat rising star Duane McDonnell into 2nd who was one of the shorter stacks but worked at the beginning of the Final Table so a decent start to his festival all in all. It was a high quality and highly entertaining final table.

Thursday NLH
This one brought all the leaderboard warriors out once their efforts at the Main fell short.
Keary, Carr and Farrell all continued their leaderboard pursuit in this one, with Shane falling first in 9th. Mr Farrell went on to claim 150 leaderboard points for a 5th place finish but it was over to that man again, Paul Carr, who wins the Thursday NHL after a heads up deal with our very own IPT ambassador Dara O’Kearney and in turn tightens the gap at the top once more. Don’t count out the Cookie Jar.
With two more Main Event flights today all eyes will turn to the grind before the storm of the Final on Sunday.
