Dublin Winter Festival – Day 3 Wrap
With a record-breaking prize pool in the Omaha, a massive turnout for both the Main Event flights and the side events. Not to mention results that meant somehow, we have been left with both Killian Farrel and Paul Carr tied on points at the top of the IPT leaderboard. The scene was set for Saturday.
The day began with €150K for €200 Main Event Day 1D which saw 240 entries adding to the ever-growing prize pool. From the field 24 entries made it through to the final day. In the mix was the man who sits atop the Ireland All Time Money List, Andy Black, and Andy Toole who is 21st on the IPT leaderboard. Both were unable to secure a stack in this flight. Those that snapped up the highest were Rodrigo Diaz who had 496,000, Rory Liffey who bagged 532,000 and the largest stack was with Anh Vu Tran who had 706,000.
Next up was the Winter Festival €10k which saw 83 entries signing up, bringing the prize pool for this event to €13,546. Again, big hitters stepped up to the plate but were unable to capitalise. IPT ambassador Dara O’Kearney failed to make it through to the final table, with Donegal native Sia Browne bubbling out in this event. In the end it came down to 4 players a deal was brokered which meant Anne Pearson, Ross Waite, Mike King all left with €2,165 with the chip leader Paul Carr taking home the trophy and €3,500. He also received 500 points for this victory meaning he is now 1st on the IPT leaderboard.
The 2nd flight of the day got underway in the form of the €150k for €200 Day 1E, with 348 entries this flight was packed to the rafters. Steven Lee and Darren Harbinson, were amongst the many that fell by the wayside. From this flight 38 went through, with the largest stacks going with Mark Flanagan, who had 626,000. Kieran O’Riordan, secured 628,000 and the biggest stack of this flight was with Robert Shanley, who had 672,000.
Players had another chance at a trophy in the form of the Omaha 7-Max which saw 54 entries taking part, bringing the prize pool to €8,815. Shane Keary who has been quiet this festival exited in 8th unable to cash. Play progressed and we were left with a final table from this it was Vitalijs Polukejevs, who finished in 3rd taking home €1,350. In 2nd was Luke Walsh, who bagged €1,950, in 1st place was Davorin Vardijan who took home the trophy and €3,065.
The last flight of the evening was the €150k for €200 Day 1F which saw a further 209 entries signing up, at the end of registration the prize pool for the Main Event sits at €224,564. With another flight to be played, it is going to be interesting to see what the final figure ends up at. From this flight the highest stacks brought forward were with Jamie Kelly, who had 400,000. Mick Graydon bagged up 438,000. After busting out of flight 1E, Darren Harbinson made a late charge and bagged up 557,000.
