Final Day Arrives in Galway Poker Festival

Mary Galvin is Chip Leader in the Main Event

As we head into the final day of the Galway Poker Festival there are 15 contenders remaining in the Main Event with still a whopping €323,370 to be won. We will be restarting at level 26 which has 30k-60k-60k blinds and the level duration will be 50 minutes.

Mary Galvin is our chip leader with 3.6 million after playing superbly throughout a tough day on Sunday. Next in line is Niall McAree with 3.1 million closely followed by two UK visitors in Mitch Hyman (2.6m) and Jacque Ramsden (2.5m).

There are plenty of big names still waiting to pounce including Derek Baker, Daryl McAleenan, Andy Toole and the recent Irish Poker Festival champion, Mark Buckley.

Earlier Robert Elkin took the Paddy Power Poker backed Sole Survivor prize worth €10,000. He was the top placed PP online qualifier and also won a Glasgow Poker Festival package in the Last Longer along with Derek Baker, Daryl McAleenan and Mary Galvin.

Highroller Day 2 at One

Day 2 of the Highroller commences at 1pm with entry still open for 2 levels. Paul Carr tops the overnight standings with 191k but there is a long way to go in that one.

Shane Keary Wins Again

It’s an IPT Omaha tournament so there’s a good chance that Shane Keary will win it, and indeed he did win the Sunday 7-Max taking €3,650 beating Liam Byrne and Michael Merrigan into the minor places.

Liam McVeigh takes €9k in €10k

Another perennial winner in Liam McVeigh took first prize of €9,000 in the hugely popular €10k One Dayer which generated over €35,000 in prizemoney. Liam won the Main Event here in 2023. Clearly he loves the Galway air. Cassandra Yong took €6,200 in second with Ray Wheatley, known as The Humanitarian due to his great work in housing the needy, captured €4,300 for third.

Jenny Steele takes €5k Trophy after 3 Way Deal

The €5k NLH also drew a great entry with €19,500 in the pool. Due to the big entry it went on deep into the night with a 3 way deal eventually forged giving tour super-regular Jenny Steele €3,470 and the trophy with equally well-known face Sam Zheng trousering €3,465 as did US visitor Stafford O’Kelly.
