Galway Summer Festival Day 3 Wrap
Day 3 was all about the PLO 8-Max and the long-awaited start of the Main Event.
The PLO action was fast and fierce, with Skipper (Zeik Tuit) stating from the outset that he’d had enough of Shane Keary winning all this cash and it was certainly time to “take him down a peg or two” He stuck to his word and brought home yet another trophy. The PLO brought trademark energy and banter as always with the usual suspects.

Eglinton Poker Cup €15k – Main Event
Meanwhile, the Main Event got underway and play ran long into the night as players battled to make their mark early.
Day 1A saw 38 entries battle it out with three more players securing their spots for the final.
Pavlo Melnyk leads the way with a strong 413,000 stack, followed closely by Alan McGuire on 398,000. Brendan Reaney also booked his place, bagging 354,000 to round out the trio of qualifiers.
Day 1B delivered no shortage of drama as the field battled deep into the night, with nine players booking their tickets to the next stage. Leading the way is Paul Carr, who bagged an impressive 375,000 to set the pace heading into Day 2. Hot on his heels is Dara H, sitting comfortably with 344,000, while Sam Zheng also put in a strong showing to close on 231,000.
There was no shortage of familiar names among the qualifiers. Colm O’Toole (216,000) and Frank Dunleavy (210,000) both navigated the minefield to finish the day in solid shape. Kevin O’Malley (158,000) and Matthew Blayney (144,000) will be back in the mix with playable stacks, while Jurgita Slamiene (122,000) also booked her place. Rounding out the lineup is Alan Finnerty, who held on with 68,000 and will be looking to spin it up when play resumes.
With big names, big stacks, and plenty of stories still to be written, the Main Event Final today at 3:00pm promises fireworks.
Saturday Night Turbo Wrap-Up
The fast-paced Saturday Night Turbo drew 18 entries, creating a prize pool of €1,383. After just over three hours of play, it was the Eglinton’s own Pat O’Callaghan who took the top spot, earning €785 and 300 leaderboard points. Michael Merrigan claimed runner-up for €400 and 250 points, while Katie Harrington rounded out the paid places in third for €200.
Plenty of familiar faces made the final table, including Marie Andre, Jason Shaughnessy, and Shane Keary, but it was O’Callaghan who held on to the end to seal the win.
