Glasgow Poker Festival – Wednesday Wrap Up
The Glasgow Poker Festival is well and truly underway, with the Main Event Satellite kicking off at 3pm on Wednesday, providing a further 12 entrants the chance to battle out for the big prize on the final day. The locals well and truly took advantage of this opportunity with 10 out of 12 the spots going to the Scots. With David Craig and Alexander Lavery from further afield putting their names into the pot.
Along the banks of the river Clyde the Glasgow Main Event 1A kicked off at 6pm with many players feeling the pressure but having to remind each other, even though the prize is high the game is still the same. The excitement in the room was electric with players experiencing this sort of event for the first time. Mixed with the seasoned veterans of the game it made for some thrilling play.
The Wednesday £5k NLH got underway at 7pm; it attracted a total of 78 entries and was hotly contested with the top 10 not giving up any room fighting to get a win. The unfortunate bubble boy of the tournament was Callum Wallace respectively making it so far but just missing out on a min cash. In the end 3 players decided to split the remainder of the pot walking away with around £1,700 each congratulations to George Wilson, Colin Downie and Sharaz “Shazzy” Moad. The trophy and the glory of the tournament went to “Shazzy” showing some outstanding play throughout the tournament.
After some hard-fought battles throughout the Alea, the Glasgow Main Event 1A, which attracted 126 entries, resulted in 32 players securing a place for the final day on Sunday. With Paul Martin topping the table and bringing a staggering 427,000 chips to the Sunday’s final day.
If the first few days of the Glasgow Poker Festival event are anything to go by this is shaping up to be one that will be remembered for a long time. Especially for that one person lucky enough to walk away with the grand prize.
