Irish Poker Tour Final 2025 – Day 1 Wrap
“You can’t come into an IPT leaderboard final with your guard down. The game is too good. Too strong” – Shane Keary.
We really did open the show with the best on offer. The IPT Leaderboard Final attracted the top 16 qualified players from the IPT Leaderboard, competing for a substantial €38,930 prize pool. With prestige as important as the payout, the atmosphere was tense from the opening shuffle.
John J Ward came into the final in 16th position, just making the lineup for the all important showpiece. But it was last year’s winner Paul Carr who was the one to beat and most knew it! Paul stayed on top early doors and the final started to resemble the back and forth battle between the top 3 all year.
Final Table:

One by one they fell with Mikey Merigan falling in 9th followed by Sam Zheng.
On they went to a tense Final Table where the margin for error was so slim. The big moment came when Paul Carr, Mary Galvin and Tomas Flanagan were all in 3 ways. Carr and Flanagan with AK and Galvin with pocket 10’s was enough for Mary to advance to the chip lead.
Ward navigated a stacked final table to secure first place, while Mary Galvin put in a strong performance to finish runner-up for €6,000. Shane Keary rounded out the podium in third, collecting €5,000 after another deep run in a big IPT spot.
