Irish Poker Tour: London Roundup
For several weeks leading up to the Irish Poker Tour London Festival Aspers Casino had ‘The Irish are Coming, the Irish are Coming’ emblazoned on every screen in their poker room. They couldn’t have been more right.
The Irish came from all parts of Ireland and all over the UK to do battle with the home team across the poker tables and in the local bars.
Amazing turnouts for every event saw all guarantees smashed as participation in the £150,000 main event was up 30% on last year’s huge success and incredibly side event numbers were up by 60%. Add in rocking cash action and it all made a week to remember.
Poker was played, trophies were won, fun was had, and friendships were reinforced.
Quote of the week came from Irish Poker Tour Ambassador Rinty Monaghan. After several days of struggle, Rinty was heads up for the Main Event with eventual winner INSERT NAME. He looked at the trophy with its outline maps of Britain and Ireland and said, ‘Why don’t we just split everything including the trophy? I’ll take Ireland and you can have the arse of it.’
If we’re still welcome after that the Irish Poker Tour will return to London in 2024.
