Killarney Poker Festival – Day 3 Wrap
What makes a great poker festival is it the venue, the schedule, the staff, the prizes on offer or the people that you meet when there. Everyone is different and what they come for may vary, but you can bet your bottom dollar that here at the Killarney Poker Festival, whatever it is you are looking for you will find it here. The atmosphere on the floor mixed with the competitive nature at the tables is a perfect blend for any aficionado.
The Killarney Main Event Day 1B got proceedings underway, with hopefuls vying for their chance to make it through to the Final. With 129 entries signing up play progressed throughout the day with the field thinning as the clock ticked away. 17 players went through to the next stage. The highest stacks bagged up went to Jason Tompkins, a familiar face on the IPT circuit who had 432,000. The 2nd highest stack was with Niall Mullan who had 442,000. Bringing through the biggest stack so far and one that will be hard to top was Szymon Pieszczoch who raked in 883,000.
Next up was the Mystery Bounty Final, which always adds an extra bit of flair to the floor. As when the bounties start flying out thick and fast, everyone on the floor is eager to see who will get the big cash prizes awarded for eliminating another player. With 193 entries bringing the prize pool to €84,920.
As the field began to whittle away, the final table was great to watch. With players showing impeccable sportsmanship, bidding their farewells to those who were eliminated. Paul Carr, Andy Black and Mary Galvin were amongst those fighting for top spot at the final table. In the end it was Damien Collins who placed in 3rd taking home €15,800 (€9,500 from bounties). Runner up in the event was Kenneth T Griffin, who banked €7,100 (€400 from bounties). The winner was Andrew Lukas Allain, an American native who had just blown in from the windy city, who took home the trophy and €10,900 (€3,200 from bounties).
The Killarney Omaha Championship 7-Max saw 38 entries pushing the prize pool to €54,720. The field was stacked with big hitters notably Shane Keary and Andy Toole who were unable to make it through to the following day’s Final. With the Final kicking off at 12pm on Friday, those with the highest stacks were Eemil Tuoominen with 381,000, Weijie Zheng who had 403,000 to play with and Mark Buckley who secured the largest stack with 436,000.
Killarney Main Event Day 1C got underway seeing 58 entries adding to the ever-growing prize pool. As play progressed late into the evening players were eager to hang on, to secure their place in the next stage of the Main Event. 10 players went through to the next stage. The highest stacks brought forward were with John Ward who had 281,000. John Enright bagged up 319,000 and the heaviest bag belonged to Vincent Dynes, who snapped up 531,000 to take through to the next stage.
The 2nd trophy of the day was to be settled in the form of the NLH €20K. Which saw an influx of players eager to make their mark on the festival. With 242 entries, this resulted in the prize pool pretty much doubling to €39,495. Meaning that 25 places were paid. With a top prize of €10,000 players were ready to fight into the early morning to leave victorious. In the end 3rd place went to Sean Murtagh who pocketed €4,100. In 2nd was Sean Purcell, banking €6,045, and the winner was Robertas Gludkinas, who took home the trophy and €10,000.
