Munster Day 1 Wrap Up
Storm Éowyn hit Ireland very hard on Friday morning. Winds of up to 180 km per hour were recorded and the damage caused is still being assessed; trees on the road, power cuts, no heating, the whole country has been badly hit. All of us at the Irish Poker Tour wish everyone affected a safe return to normality, but regardless of the storm, it has not stopped our loyal poker players from travelling from all parts of the country and beyond to attend the Munster Poker Festival at the Charleville Park Hotel.
The day kicked off at 3pm with the Doyles €10k In A Day NLH which smashed its guarantee and saw Jessie Bartlett take home the trophy and €3,900 after making a deal with An Muinteoir, Mike O’Donoghue.
The Munster Poker Cup attracted a very healthy 150 entries on Day 1A and with four more flights it seems certain the €70,000 guarantee will soon be in the rearview mirror. 25 players survived through to Sunday’s Final with John Healy leading the way with 776k, followed by Patrick O’Donnell on 517k and Tadgh Ryan on 397k.. Day 1B of the Main Event kicks off Saturday’s festivities at 11:00am.
To end this first day of poker action our regular Friday Night €3k NLH attracted 41 players and achieved a prizepool of €4,920. Michael Kelly was proclaimed the winner and took home the trophy and €1,820.
So you can see, nothing can stop the Irish Poker Tour players and team from getting together and enjoying top class poker action organised and reported on by the best.
See you all shortly for Day 2 and all the exciting action that is in store!
