Munster Day 2 Wrap Up

Day 2 of the Munster Poker Festival was busy, to say the least. You would think that Storm Éowyn was an urban legend, judging by how the room was buzzing and jam-packed. The tables were so full that even the 8pm Turbo had to be removed from the schedule, but we are not ones to complain. As long as we see those happy faces and those tables are full, we are all hunky-dory.

So, let’s take a look at what went down on Day 2 here at the Charleville Park Hotel.

The main focus of the day was on the Munster Poker Cup, with Day 1B starting at 11:00. By the time Day 1C was underway, the guarantee had already been smashed.

The registration desk didn’t get a moment’s rest, and the team was amazing, as always, with their smiles and craic, providing fantastic service to all players in attendance. Genuinely we really couldn’t ask for a better crew. Go Team Reg.

Now let’s have a quick look at the numbers, shall we. The combination of all flights and entries so far totals 561 with a prizepool of €91,555. These are serious numbers folks. And amongst the familiar faces at the tables we saw players like Paul “Cookie Jar” Carr, Keith Cummins and the fabulous Mary Galvin, providing us followers with some very exciting moments.

As for the chip leaders heading into Day 2, John Healy tops the pack with a wonderful stack of 766,000 chips, followed by Michael J Ryan with 635,000 chips and in third place Michael Turner with 526,000 chips.

The action is heating up, and with a flight left and EVERYTHING on the line for the final day, you can bet there will be plenty of twists and turns—after all, that’s the beauty of poker!

Of course, it would not be an Irish Poker Tour stop without the Omaha 8 Max, and with a total field of 35 and a total prizepool of €5,700. Omaha specialist and serial tournament winner, Patrick Eagers took the trophy and the €2,300 first prize home. Well done, Patrick!

As you can see, there’s lots of action here at the Munster Poker Festival and more to come on the final day. Everything kicks off again at 11:00am with the ever-popular Hyper flight and one last chance to make it into Day 2 of the Munster Poker Cup, so make sure you follow www.livepokerupdates.com for all your live updates. Good Luck at the Tables folks!
