Munster Day 3 Wrap Up
Sundays are usually days to rest and get ready for the week ahead but things were definitely not calm here at the Charleville Park Hotel for the last day of the Munster Poker Festival.
The day started bright and early at 11:00am with 39 hopeful entrants to the Hyper flight of the Munster Poker Cup. 14 survived meaning 110 players were ready to battle it out for the Munster Poker Cup, which had garnered a total of 598 entries and a total prizepool of €97,595. For those following us, you will know it was an exciting and fun affair. Amongst the lucky ones to make it through to the Final Table were Irish poker legends Big Mick Graydon and Keith Touhey who were also the winners of our Last Longer promotion, which means we will be seeing them again at the Glasgow Poker Festival in March, very well done boys. The bubble boy of the event was Seán McCarthy. Seán got in good pre-flop with K♥ K♣ v 8♥8♠ of Michael Ryan. Board ran out 9♠ A♦ 4♠ 6♠ 2♠ to give Michael the flush and send Sean to the rails. The final table of the event started around 9pm with Sergey Agafonov leading the pack but was the first to bust, ultimately Eddie Landy won the battle, collecting a nice €19,000. Kieran O’Riordan was second for €13k with Keith third for €8k.
Sunday is not really Sunday at the Irish Poker Tour without the Monsterstack. This is a favourite amongst players of the circuit and it got 111 entries, generating a total prizepool of €18,115. Familiar faces out there included our very own Irish Poker Tour Ambassador Tanya Masters whose run unfortunately came to an end when her AQ on an ace-high board went straight into a set of 3s. It was however Kyle Rafferty who picked up the trophy and the money, taking home €4,460.
And finally to end the day with some fun and games the Final Fling Fast Freezeout and the Omaha 4 / 5 Cards tournaments took place. Ambassador Tanya Masters made the final table of the Freezeout but Lady Luck was not on her side this time, giving the trophy and money to Abel Davtyan and the €1,000 win ahead of fan favourite Adrian Creagh. The Omaha tables were also full of familiar faces, including our very own Donal MacAonghusa, Rego and of course Paul “Cookie Jar” Carr, it was a tough battle but ultimately the Cookie Jar took home the trophy and the monies.
