Siege Of Clonmel III Final Day Wrap
Tommy O’Rourke Takes The Siege Crown
Clareman Tommy O’Rourke has been one of the leading lights of poker West of the Shannon for at least 20 years and he further burnished his reputation on Sunday night in the Talbot Hotel by winning the Siege of Clonmel 3’s Main Event.
415 entries had produced a splendid prizepool of €67,730 with 42 players getting paid. 79 had survived into Day 2 and it didn’t take long to whittle them down to 45 but those last few spots always take some time and it was a full hour before local star Marcus McHale was defenestrated in 43rd place.
Things advanced quickly from there; Ricky Freeman (€2,000) shot up to over 1 million chips with 30 players remaining but faded away to finish 8th, IPT Ambassador Tanya Masters (€1,200) nurtured a small stack all the way to 11th, newcomer Christopher Brabston (€2,700) was 6th, regular Final Tablist Emmett Mullin (€3,200) took 5th, and Michael Halpin (€4,000) was 4th.
Tommy O’Rourke, Vasileos Kontogiannis and Pat Kelly fought out a great battle three-handed but when Pat fell in third for €6,000, Tommy and Vasileos swiftly agreed a deal whereby The Greek trousered €11,500 and Tommy took home the Trophy, the Title, and €13,830.
Monsterstack
The Monsterstack always proves popular and this was no different with 91 entrants on a Sunday afternoon and a prizepool in excess of €11,000. The final table saw a host of strong players including Gastao Silva (8th for €440) and Jacquie O’Connor (4th for €1040) but ultimately it was another popular name who stepped up to claim the trophy…
Killian Farrell was called the crossbar specialist due to his penchant for just missing out on titles but he’s now got one at last He picked up his second IPT trophy in the early hours of this morning for €2,260 After a 3-Way Chop with John ‘Gorman and Steven Roche
Omaha 4/5 cards
David “Panda” Fitzpatrick claimed all day that if he got onto a final table then he would receive his money back from Jamie Flynn for his Doyle’s hoodie. He stuck to his word and got it done. Not without a fight however, and IPT ambassador, Tanya Masters put on a great show to see out her festival finishing in 2nd. How can you not be happy for Panda? He brings the fun out every time he sits down to play cards.
Final Fling
Deirdre O’Connor took down the Final fling and we couldn’t be happier for her. She’s been chasing an Irish Poker Tour Title for ages. Now she walks away with €800 and the trophy. Time for her partner Graham to pick up a trophy to regain the bragging rights.
