St. Patrick’s €100K For €100 – Day 2 Wrap

In the exciting and intense game of wits that is poker, you are never far from a quip or joke at the table. With the background noise of chip stacks clattering and players chattering, the Irish Poker Tour in Dublin’s Green Isle Hotel has been buzzing.

The APAT Irish Open Championship Day 1C kicked off proceedings giving another 89 entries the chance to take home the illustrious medal. Kevin Duffy brought forward the highest stack, 1,430,000. Joining the tournament was a well-known figure from the Irish Poker circuit, dawned in a trademark snazzy shirt was Dara O’Kearney who picked up three awards at the most recent GPI awards this year.

The €10k One Dayer commencing at 2pm saw 74 entries signing up. With Paul “The Cookie Jar” Carr a familiar face from the IPT circuit, making it to the final table once again. Although Paul finished in 8th place he took home €430 but an important 175 Points to add to his tally on the Paddy Power Poker Leaderboard in 4th place, he is just 30 points off the podium.

With audible roars from the final table, it was evident the final 7 were eager to go home with a trophy. A deal was done when it got down to the final 3 which resulted in Fergal Coyle recording his first live tournament win taking home €2,270, in 2nd was Padraig McGrath with €2,000 and Dick Van Schaik of Belgium in 3rd with €2,000.

The Dublin €100k for €100 Main Event Day 1A opened registration giving players their first opportunity to qualify for Sunday’s final, attracting 189 entries. With 23 players going through to the final day. The top 3 stacks were acquired by Steven Lee with 669,000, Sam Butler with 570,000 and Donatas Nenartavicius with 555,000.

APAT Irish Open Championship Day which had been fought for over the last 2 days got underway. A shout out has to go to Mary Galvin, representing for the ladies and as of late has been showing some fantastic form on the Poker table, placing high in almost every tournament she enters. Mary came in 6th place taking home €1,180. In 3rd was Jumir Veaceslav with €2,700, 2nd Darren McGinley with €4,235 and the winner of the tournament was Barry McKelvey, Barry took home €6,700 and the APAT Irish Open Championship medals.

With six more opportunities to qualify for Sunday’s Main Event the St. Patrick’s Kings & Queens to name a few the start of the weekend’s Irish Poker Tour’s schedule, along with live music in the Green Isle Hotel, is sure to be something you would be unwise to miss.
