Summer In Dublin – Day 1 Wrap
They say that modern society was developed in Greece, the birthplace of democracy and home to ancient wonders which are still spectacular to this day. Time has moved on from then and modern society although somewhat civilised still needs an amphitheatre in which to do battle. Dublin has opened up its city gates once more with welcoming arms to greet the IPT competitors for the Summer in Dublin festival. Hosted by the Green Isle Dublin it is set to be another thrill ride from start to finish…
2 trophies 1 flight was on the roster for the opening night of the festival. Starting proceedings was the €10k One Dayer Festival Opener – this saw 77 entries rack up the prize pool to €12,567. Throughout the night contenders were sent packing, everyone eager to lay claim to the first accolade. When it got down to the final table a deal was done meaning that 9th position was to receive €300, which worked out for Bogdan-Marian Bucur
In 3rd was Patrick Eagers who took home €1,700. After an ICM deal in the heads-up Fabio Bitencourt took home €3,200 with Armands Markuls receiving €3,015 and taking home the trophy.
Next to start was the Main Event 1A €50k for 1st which attracted 69 entries in total. As play progressed some players pulled away from the pack, bagging up a decent stack for the first flight. The highest stacks were acquired by Morar George- Paul, with 240,000, Aidan Redden with 294,000 and Jonathan Condron who amassed 312,000.
The 2nd trophy up for the taking was the Wednesday Night €5k, which saw 47 entries bumping up the prize pool to €5,640. At the end of the tournament, in 3rd was Gerard Wynne with €900, in 2nd was, Alexander Bernstein with €1,350. The winner of the 2nd trophy of the festival was non other than “Doke”- Dara O’Kearney who pocketed €2,040. Dara always brightens up any festival with his trademark shirts and easy-going personality. Never too busy to offer advice to the upcoming poker players in the room. It was great to see Dara secure a trophy on the first day of Summer in Dublin.
