Trip Report: IPT Clonmel
Sylvia Conquers Clonmel
The Irish Poker Tour paid its first visit to the Talbot Hotel Clonmel for what should become a regular tour stop. A total of 231 entries produced a bumper prize pool of over €27,000 and we had a great winner in local legend Sylvia Cooney.
With four players remaining a deal was struck whereby Sylvia, Colin Horgan, John Farragher, and Mourad Kissous divided the remaining money collecting €4,050 each. According to IPT rules, when an equal split is agreed finishing positions are determined by stack size and, as she was the chip leader at the time, Sylvia was declared the winner.
Sylvia is our first-ever female Tour Stop winner and a well-loved figure on the local poker scene so her victory was greeted with glee by all the staff and players. She herself told us that she had not won anything like this in a long time and that she was beside herself with joy.
Colin Horgan Leads the Rankings
Cork’s finest Colin Horgan has hit the top spot in the Irish Poker Tour Rankings Leaderboard after his third major cash of the year. Colin won the January Cork Tour Stop, followed up with a final table finish in Ballinasloe, and last weekend was one of the four splitters in Clonmel.
Sylvia Cooney, Colin, John Farragher, and Mourad Kissous took over €4,000 each when they divided the spoils in Clonmel’s Talbot Hotel. Colin was lying in second position chip-wise when the deal was done and so garnered second-place points which lifted him above Aiden Cullinane and into first place.
The Rankings race will continue all year with an estimated €40,000 to be divvied out after the playoffs in December. This exciting bonus is available to all players, full details can be found on our website here.
