All-in Or Folds & Irish Poker Classic 2023

Irish Poker Tour Team Pro Paul Carr won last Sunday’s Irish Poker Classic in the Macau Casino Cork after a brilliant display showing the full range of his renowned tournament poker skills.

Paul had progressed to Day 2 of the event via a scheduled All-in or Fold on Saturday afternoon. Many players at the event have since expressed their dissatisfaction at this means of qualification for Day 2 in a major tournament. They feel that it is unfair that the vast majority of players getting through have had to battle for up to 10 hours whilst others can get through via a one-minute game of chance.

Whilst we have run All-in or Folds successfully at a number of previous events, we have taken players’ opinions on board we have now completed a full review. We have decided to remove All-in or Folds as a starting flight from all our future events. They will be used solely as satellites to events into the future.

As a goodwill gesture to all the other Day 2 qualifiers in this event, the Irish Poker Tour will add the full value (€25,500) of his first-place finish to their Irish Poker Tour player’s account.

Each of the other 67 players will be credited €375 and they are free to use these funds for buy-ins or hotel accommodation at any of our future events.

Cork is a special place, and its poker players are a major contributing factor in the success of the Irish Poker Tour. We look forward to visiting again in January.

While the gesture is honourable and commendable you should not feel that it is necessary. Paul (well played to him by the way), in the same way as anybody else who chose to do so, entered the All in or Fold’ and got through and went on to win. Would anybody have bitched if he, like most previous All in or Fold qualifiers, won nothing?
Changing the rules going forward is fine if thats the decision based on feedback BUT compensating players should not be required.
But thats my tuppence worth and you guys are top notch operators.

Lovely gesture but as someone else said, definitely not necessary.

Poker players complaining about another player getting lucky? :O They need to consider another hobby.

But yeah if Paul didn’t win the €25k I doubt there would be anyone complaining.
