Killarney Women of Poker Championship Review
On Friday the smash hit of the Killarney Poker Festival was the Killarney Women of Poker tournament!
46 runners and a €7,990 prize pool were very impressive, but much more importantly the atmosphere was absolutely electric.
And the mastermind behind it all was Irish Poker Tour Team Pro, Tanya Masters! Tanya (pictured with the entire Masters Poker Family) looked after every single player, providing them with prosecco and strawberries, great bonus prizes from Paddy Power Poker, and of course excellent play!
Player and writer Alex O Brien, author of the upcoming The Truth Detective available for pre-order now had this to say:
“What can I say, it was such a joy playing in Killarney! The Irish Poker Tour put on yet another fantastic event – the room was buzzing and the atmosphere filled with laughter and great spirit! I am so happy I made the trip- and I can’t wait to come back.”
However, poker players did notice one odd man out at the tables. Irish Poker Tour Super-Regular Shane Keary bought in and ran deep with an ever-increasing bounty on his name.
More and more onlookers put cash underneath Shane’s chips until Liz Kelly finally knocked him out for €1,000 and €400 donated to Marymount Hospice
When asked for a quote about the experience, he said “Jaysus, Ferdia just make something up that makes me sound like a really good feminist.”
The winner of the event, Willow Connolly was over the moon, telling the story of her son contacting Tanya from Australia to buy her into this event as a birthday present.
There may be another early birthday present around the corner. In four weeks’ time, Tanya is running another Lady’s event in the Intercontinental Hotel Dublin as part of the inaugural Irish Poker Festival. The buy-in is €220+€30 and it promises to be another absolute blast.
Start buying the strawberries, Tanya!!
